Feldman Mfg is originated and run by Brandyn David Feldman. A tattooer, machinist and engineer Brandyn has been a dedicated servant to the form and function of tattoo since 2002. In that time he’s spent his years studying the tattoo application and machine building techniques of the greats and elders of tattoo.
Originally from Los Angeles, he started tattooing in the Navy and then returned back to Southern CA to work in shops all over East and Downtown Los Angeles before eventually running his own shop Traditional Ink, later renamed Feldman’s Tattoo Parlor on Hollywood Blvd from 2005-2011. While running the shop Brandyn took his years of rebuilding cars with his father and directed that mechanical interest towards tattoo machines. A self-proclaimed obsessive towards his craft he surrounded his entire life with tattoo.
In 2011 Brandyn relocated to Nashville TN for a change of pace and to be close to family. While there Brandyn opened the shop Flash City in 2012 and left the partnership in 2013. At this point, he decided to focus most of his tattooing via a private studio and focused the majority of his time on the perfection of the tattoo machine. At this point, all machine designing was being outsourced and Brandyn was building entirely on manual mills and lathes. While this gave him the expertise and knowledge to machine like someone from the 1940s, it was also limiting the quality and production that Brandyn was able to accomplish.
Thus, necessity being the mother of invention, Brandyn found and taught himself how to design in Autodesk Fusion360 over a two year period, apprenticing himself to master CNC machinists and then purchased his own HAAS CNC machine in May 2016. His rare ability to self-educate rapidly and move from prototype to production is rare in machining, let alone tattooing and has garnered him much industry recognition including speaking at AutoDesk University, Nashville Meetup Fusion groups, numerous machine shops, taught machine seminars at Vancouver Tattoo Convention with Lucas Ford, spoke at Cam user group at the IMTS convention in Chicago and in 2018 he received the 2018 Haas Excellence award.
